About the Course
Despite aspirations for education, meaningful employment, mentorship, and a brighter future, for many people who live in poverty, their lives are constrained by a range of factors. From caregiver responsibilities and lack of transportation to the absence of role models and mentors, these factors often leave them stuck in low-paying, hourly jobs without paid time off to pursue education. The stress of living in high-crime, resource-deprived areas can consume their energy, leaving little room for planning and preparation.
This workshop is designed to provide a comprehensive understanding of the challenges individuals in poverty face, while delving into the concept of opportunity costs. Through insightful discussions and practical exercises, participants will gain the knowledge and skills needed to become advocates for change and supporters of initiatives aimed at dismantling systemic barriers. By empowering individuals to take action, this workshop contributes to the collective effort to create a more equitable and inclusive society that values and uplifts every member.
