Creating Trauma Champions

About the Course

This session focuses on building awareness, understanding, and shared responsibility for supporting individuals impacted by trauma in the workplace. Participants will learn what trauma is, how it shows up in behavior, communication, and performance, and why trauma responses are adaptive rather than intentional. The session introduces the concept of a trauma champion, someone who helps create safer, more supportive environments through empathy, awareness, and connection. Participants will explore practical strategies for recognizing trauma responses, responding without re-traumatization, and offering appropriate peer support while staying within professional boundaries. Emphasis is placed on fostering psychological safety, promoting compassion, and embedding trauma sensitivity into everyday interactions. By strengthening awareness and action, this session empowers participants to contribute to healthier, more connected, and resilient workplace cultures.
