Depression & Suicide Prevention

About the Course

This session provides a comprehensive overview of depression and suicide prevention by increasing awareness, reducing stigma, and strengthening the ability to recognize and respond to warning signs. Participants will learn that depression is a complex mental health condition, not a personal weakness, and how it can affect emotions, behavior, thinking, and daily functioning. The session explores common myths and realities surrounding depression and suicide, risk factors, and early warning signs that may indicate someone is struggling. Participants will gain practical skills for offering compassionate, nonjudgmental support, having supportive conversations, and encouraging individuals to seek professional help. Emphasis is placed on empathy, listening, and shared responsibility in creating supportive environments that promote safety, connection, and hope.
