From the Same Roots: Reconnecting Through Communication, Respect and Shared Purpose

About the Course

The Community unit at Cuyahoga County Job & Family Services connects the county directly with the clients who depend on its services. Like many high-performing teams doing meaningful work, the team has experienced friction from different communication styles, unclear behavioral expectations, and unresolved tension. This session helps the team reconnect through a shared understanding of communication styles, agreed standards of professional respect, and a renewed focus on common purpose.

Learning Objectives

1. Identify their personal communication style (Driver, Expressive, Amiable, or Analytical) and how it affects team dynamics, and practice flexing toward colleagues with different styles.
2. Define and practice standards of professional respect by co-creating team norms for tone, language, and conduct, especially during disagreement.
3. Recognize how division within a team affects service delivery and commit to shared practices that reconnect the team around its common purpose.
