About the Course
Negative and critical mothers are a contributing factors to female delinquency (U.S. Dept. of Justice). When home hurts, girls my look elsewhere for affection and validation. Some girls may choose to involve themselves with negative peers, older males, and gangs who may pull them into delinquent acts. In this workshop we discuss a set of tools to help mother and daughter mediate the pain of the past trauma and create a plan of healing for better, healthier relationships.
Learning Objectives
Participants will be able to define delinquency and list status offenses.
Participants will understand the link between girls' problematic relationship with their mother and delinquency.
Participants will be able to use strategies to engage girls to resist delinquency and build upon their resiliencies & protective factors.
