Live It, Learn It, Love It: Making Education Matter to the Failing Student

About the Course

According to findings in the “Cities in Crisis: Closing the Education Gap,” Columbus was found to have the 9th lowest graduation rate of 50 major U.S. cities studied in the report. (CNN.com) Columbus’s graduation rate was found to be 45% while the national average is 71%. This workshop takes an exploratory view of some of the causative factors of why some students fail and strategies to help struggling students succeed. Covered in the workshop is learning style awareness and how students can tailor their study to how they like to learn. Also, we will discuss helpful strategies for foster parents to advocate for students, and tools to help foster parents become more involved in the educational process.
