Meeting Every Student Where They Are: A Personalized Approach to Trauma-Informed Care in Schools

About the Course

Trauma-informed care has become standard language in schools, but when it is applied as a universal script instead of a responsive practice, it can fall flat for the students it is meant to serve. This session challenges one-size-fits-all approaches and gives school professionals a clinically grounded framework for understanding and responding to each student's individual needs.

Learning Objectives

1. Distinguish between universal trauma-informed practices and individually tailored responses, and apply that distinction to student scenarios using a structured assessment framework.
2. Integrate emotional regulation support into individualized trauma-informed responses for students from diverse developmental, cultural, and circumstantial backgrounds.
3. Evaluate current school-based practices and identify at least two changes that would make them more individually relevant, culturally responsive, and trauma-informed.
