About the Course
Transitioning to the adult world of work can be one of the biggest challenges facing teenagers. Among the biggest hurdles is finding living wage employment. Former foster youth aging out of the system have an unemployment rate of 47% (University of Chicago). The better prepared our youth are before they leave the system, the greater chance they have for obtaining and maintaining jobs. This workshop seeks to shed light on how normalcy and the reasonable and prudent standard could be used to provide youth in care with job and career exploration experiences and activities to help them choose jobs, careers and gigs for now and in the near future.
