About the Course
The United States leads the world in fatherlessness, where 24 million children live absent their fathers (National Fatherhood Initiative). Without fathers in the home, some boys grasp for an understanding of masculinity through media, peers, and community influences. Challenges enter when the influences are hyper-masculine and convey only a negative depiction of men as violent, non-intellectual, disrespectful, and misogynistic. This workshop deals with strategies to reverse the negative cultivation of masculinity in boys by teaching and modeling a respectful masculinity that allows for the full range of human emotion that typical men live every day.
