Realize it is Time to Empathize in Child Welfare

About the Course

This workshop borrows the concept of empathy from the study of psychology and shows how it can be applied to building a working relationship between foster parents and birth parents. Foster parents will gain insight and awareness into the distraught mental and/or emotional state of parents at the onset of losing custody of their children. They will also learn communication techniques to use in the midst of their distraught state to bridge the gap with parents. Also, foster parents will learn the importance of helping children be empathetic with parents as they struggle to complete case plan objectives.
