Street Drugs and Home Highs: Teens and the New Drug Epidemic

About the Course

Generation Z is bombarded with a myriad of youth cultural influences that promote drug use as a viable life style with no real consequences. Pro-Drug influences use music, film, video games, social media, and pop culture icons send youth a consistent message that street drugs and home highs are the “cool” thing to do. In this workshop we will explore the resurgence of heroin use among youth, meth and cocaine , O.T.C’s, pharmaceuticals, synthetic drugs as well as D.I.Y. (do it yourself) highs that involve household items kids use to get high. We will discuss indicators that kids are getting high and ways to engage/confront them on drug use and strategies to empower them to live a drug free lifestyle.
