Understanding Muslim and Middle Eastern Families

About the Course

There are between 3 and 5.7 million Muslims in the United States (Shaefer). Islam, the religion of the Muslims is one of the fastest growing religions in this country. Muslims are from many different racial and ethnic groups as well as diverse countries of origin. Not all Muslims are the same, nor all are Middle Easterners. This workshop seeks to inform participants of the range of beliefs, customs, and the racial/ethnic make- up of Muslims and Middle Easterners living in America. Caregivers will learn about the culture of Muslims and Middle Easterners and how to honor, and value customs and traditions and overcome the barriers to effectively communication.
